My name is Fenesia Braga and I am a current senior at Whittier College. I was born and raised in a small town in central California named Watsonville. This area of California means everything to me. I truly feel this one city made me who I am today. Although I am no longer living there, I carry many of the lessons I’ve learned and experiences I’ve been through with me to this day. 

Since I was young, I have always felt the desire to help those around me. I became passionate about helping those in disadvantaged populations, especially those in the criminal justice system. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to intern at the Santa Cruz County Juvenile Probation in 2021, which was a life changing experience. 

In addition to the criminal justice system, I am also passionate about working with children. I have had some previous experience working with children in various settings, such as in classrooms and in sports. I believer that I have the patience and the personality type that works well with children, as I have been working with them for almost my entire life. 

Throughout high school,  I had several leadership positions. I served as one of the representatives on senior committee, where we planned events like Grad Night, Senior Lock-In and prom. In this position I reached out to organizations and businesses to discuss their services, availability and pricing. I also was Chief Editor of the yearbook. I was in charge of reaching out to companies to find one that could accommodate our needs, as well as doing much of the creative process in the actual book itself. Lastly, I was also captain of the varsity basketball team for several seasons.

In 2020, I started working at the Financial Aid Office at my school. Although I do not have a real interest in finances, I really love the position. I learned that I thrive in office environments. I am able to multi-task in a fast paced environment. I also really love working with my fellow peers and collaborating to make our work environment more beneficial for everyone. 

Overall, I feel that I have the skills to work in many different fields. I think I am a fast learner and I am ready to see where my journey takes me next. I am graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in May 2023 and I hope that as I finish up my undergrad, I find where I am meant to be.
